Jane Exo RSS
The new Exo from Jane is pushing technological boundaries. Whilst its electronic warning system for incorrect fitting can be dismissed as a little gimmicky, the Pneumatic Absorption System is state of the art in 'In Car Safety'.
One to consider
For a seat that has 'Universal' isofix approval
Expert review
The theory here is that isofix is purely a system that has been developed to ensure that a car seat is fitted correctly. It is, however, widely accepted that isofix is the safest way to transport your child for not only the aforementioned reason but because the car seat itself is fixed to the car chassis and therefore the chassis will absorb much of the impact in the event of a collision.
With the Exo, Jane have used research that suggests that the G-Forces that affect the occupant of the car seat are reduced when the adult belt that holds the car seat in place 'stretches'. The suggestion here is that with isofix fittings in operation, there will be zero movement in the car seat and therefore no reduction in the G-Force.
And so, what we have here is a new and innovative system built into the Exo which allows the seat, whilst installed with isofix to move slightly on impact whilst retaining the integrity of the isofix fittings. This is achieved with a pneumatic absorption system that allows the seat to absorb the impact and therefore reduce the G-Forces that affect the occupant of the seat. The effect is much like that of a shock-absorber.
As with all new technology it is too soon to see its effect but this would seem to be a grat step forward in in car child safety.
The Exo brings with it a good deal of thought and technical advances. This is a group 1 seat that will take your child from 9-18kgs. In addition to its isofix capabilities, the Exo can be fitted using a full adult seat belt, giving it the flexibility of moving from one car to another even if there are no isofix fittings available.
When installed using the isofix system, the Exo has a new elecronic display that will alert you should the seat not be installed correctly. The 'one-pull' harness has an easy automatic height adjustment allowing the seat to grow with your child. The seat has a good recline range with five reclined positions.
With the inclusion of a 'top tether' the Exo has been classified as 'Universal' and will fit all cars, whether you use an adult seat belt or isofix to fit it.
There is good side impact protection here with shock absorbing material covering all parts of the seat shell.
