Suresound Ultimate Monitor

One to consider

For a Tommee Tippee Monitor with Audio and Movement capabilities

Expert review

This has all of the features of the Suresound Deluxe Monitor with the addition of the ability to sense movement.

By placing the 'sensor pad' under the cot mattress you will be able to monitor the baby's movement via the parent unit of the Monitor. The pad senses movement and if there is none for 20 seconds you will receive an audible and visible alarm. The pad is so sensitive that it will detect the sleeping baby makes whilst asleep.

For a much cheaper option with many of the same features, it's well worth taking a look at The Angelcare Monitor by Safety 1st.

To make this monitor fully portable you will need 4xAA batteries.

I found this product terrible. There is lots of interference , the alarm keeps going off even tough the baby is fine, the night light is pretty poor and the batteries only last for 1.5 nights!

Excellent for the first few months - it is very reassuring to know that the alarm will sound should anything happen to your baby. The base unit has a light that flashes with each movement too, so even with the sound turned down to allow you to sleep, you can still see the flash in a darkened room. It is expensive though, so do consider: - you may not get much use out of it - perhaps only 2 or 3 months. As soon as the baby can roll over, it's able to move out of range of the sensor pad, and you get numerous false alarms, each of which shortens your life by several years. - the pad won't work with matresses over a certain thickness - you have to remember to switch off the alarm whenever you pick the baby up, which is not easy when you're sleep deprived. There is nothing more annoying than trying to catch some much needed sleep when your other half takes the baby away and the alarm wakes you up as soon as they get downstairs - the standard parts of the monitor are not great - lots of interference and the parent unit is prone to breaking.
