If you take taxis a lot as this functions as a regular upright Car Seat in the car but turns into a lie flat mini Carrycot once on a pushchair and is compatible with several best selling pushchairs (not just Mamas & Papas models).

It is compatible with all the models of pushchairs that the CabrioFix is (ie Bugaboos, iCandy models, Micralite, Quinny etc…) Interestingly it is not compatible with most of the Mamas and Papas range which still have to put up with the not ideal Primo Viaggio Car Seat.  The only model the Pro Sleep is compatible with from Mamas and Papas is the new Herbie due out at the same time. The Car Seat is far more exciting than the Herbie pushchair (which is disappointing link) and really is bringing something new to the party that should shake things up a bit!

The Pro Sleep is a cross between the Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix and the Jane Matrix.  Like the CabrioFix it is compatible with the widest range of best selling pushchairs, unlike the CabrioFix, it will lie flat once on the pushchair.  Simply by rotating the carrying handle backwards, the back rest reclines flat. And so, like the Jane it lies flat on a pushchair, and therefore much more preferable to other car seats that remain upright on a pushchair and are taken advantage of by parents who don’t realise the potential damage of keeping their baby upright for long periods of time at such a young age.

Unlike the Jane Matrix, however, it can not be laid flat while in the car.  This may not be such a disadvantage, as most lie flat car seats, have proven to not perform as well as their upright equivalents on impact.

The Pro-sleep is definitely heavier than other infant carriers but if all you are doing is transferring it from car seat to pushchair wheels, this should not pose too much of a problem.

Due to the lie flat feature, this is a good choice for those of you who don’t have a car but are purchasing a car seat primarily for use in taxis.

As with all seats in this group (From birth - 13kilos, Group 0+), it must be fitted rearward facing. Always confirm correct fitting and compatibility with a trained Nursery retailer or Road Safety Officer.
