This is a great sling in the more traditional vein. Two pieces of jersey, no buckles, no clips.

One to consider

If you want something, compact, simple in design, comfortable to use and good for your back.

Expert review

It can be worn in 4 different positions.  A newborn lies in the foetal position and this sling also allows for discreet breast feeding.  The weight distribution is one of the best, less strain on the shoulders and back than many other slings and front carriers which also means you will be able to carry a child for longer and until an older age.  As the child grows they can be carried sitting up, facing in to wearer or out to the world.  As it is only 2 pieces of material and not at all bulky, it is so easy to take travelling or have in your handbag or at the bottom of your pram for when you need it.  Can be used from birth, even for smaller weight babies.

THE LOWDOWN

How comfortable?   Very comfortable and recommended by back specialists

Upsides – No buckles, no strain
Downsides – A bit unusual looking – not to everyone’s taste
Ease of use  - Extremely easy but as with all slings takes a bit of getting used to at first
Budget – Approx £49 average price

I really didn't get on with this sling. When my daughter was newborn she got enveloped in the fold of material, couldn't see out and generally seemed unhappy in it. Just tried it again, baby now 3 months. Even worse, she nearly fell out as she's a wriggly baby. Have reverted to my Baby Bjorn even though it makes my back ache after a while.

I bought the tri-cotti as a second baby carrier, after my disappointment from the front baby carrier which put a lot of strain on my shoulders. I found the tri-cotti comfortable at first, the weight disribution on the fabric feels better, so I didn't feel it on the shoulders for a while. My baby looked snug, and I liked being able to put him in the cuddly position for sleeping, he also liked the tummy to tummy position. HOWEVER, I found it less comfortable when the baby was 4 months old. When he is active he moves around freely, so it doesn't feel safe. On the facing out position he pulls forward and streches the fabric on the shoulders, or moves to one side, putting strain on one shoulder, and I have to readjust all the time. The whole thing is not that fun anymore and I stopped using it. I think 3 months use for a product worth £44 is not enough. Also my husband couldn't use it as we are not the same size. I bought my third carrier - a wraparound sling, which we can bought use! my baby is 7 months old now and I still don't feel any pain of carrying him in the wraaround! Also as there are more layers of fabric it feels much safer then the tri-cotti.
