The most compact folding pushchair and a dream to push. No shopping basket or recline, but a small price to pay for such a great mover!

Zapp

One to consider

From 6m for holidays or as a second pushchair

Expert review

This is the smallest pushchair on the market (folded). It’s small enough to fit in the boot of a Mini.  As a pushchair it is suitable from 6 months (the seat does not recline and is therefore not suitable for a newborn).  It is, however, compatible with the Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix car seat and can be used from birth in this way with the car seat on top of the wheels - but this would only be a suitable mode of transport as a part time pushchair as it is recommended that a child is not in a car seat for more than 2 hours at a time due to the fact that the child is not lying flat (see car seat section).

The Zapp is a three wheeler but not with traditional big pneumatic wheels, the wheels are small rubber wheels which means it is suitable as a city pushchair but not for taking off road.  It manoeuvres superbly and is a joy to push.  This is definitely one of our favourite buggies. It is, of course fabulous for holidays (worth getting the transport bag accessory for taking on planes) and is small enough to fit in the overhead locker of an aeroplane.  (don’t let on to the cabin crew that you’re taking your pushchair on board and no one will challenge you) – then when everyone else has to walk miles before retrieving their pushchair from the carousel you can glide by without a struggle!  The seat, although non reclining is wide and very roomy for an older child.  As well as all this it even looks great.  There are some downsides to this zappy little number that should be pointed out, although, personally, I would not let them put you off.  There is no shopping basket and due to the smaller wheels, although great for travel, it’s not one to take to the beach. The handles do not extend so if you’re super tall you should test drive it before buying.  This is a great ‘second’ pushchair – probably not suitable as the ‘lead role’ but a perfect ‘supporting part’.

excellent for new born when combined with maxi cosi car seat -and then can be used with its on seat from 6 months onward - a cheap yet sturdy alternative to its sister model in the same brand

A good pushchair for older babies and toddlers. The main review covers the two main downsides - it doesn't recline and there's no basket. I've had mine for nearly 4 years and it's still going strong for child number 2. The frame is getting a bit rickety, but still usable. It is very maneuverable and is a dream to push around especially in crowded shops with narrow aisles. It's not so great on less than perfect surfaces - even using the car seat attachment, the baby gets rattled around a lot on cobbles or park paths. If you can afford to have 2 pushchairs, then this one is great for keeping permanently in the boot of the car - (it takes up hardly any space, even in a Mini!) or using for short walks and trips.

I have the Quinny Zapp and so glad i purchased it as a second pushchair, i do have bugaboo bien sur from birth which is excellent but the Zapp saved me the hassle of travelling with a heavy and expensive piece yes, it does not have a shopping basket but that is not a major part of it when i fold Zapp it becomes a small pushchair easy to put in the boot of my car and when i travel i can put in its case and take it with me on the plane without having to check it in or being worried if it is going to be damaged with the luggage i am not the only one to appreciate the practicality of this pushchair even my nanny is loving it and thinks it best pram she cou ld ever push in terms of practicality and size. So far so good.

I've had my quinny for 18 months, and so far so good, it is easy to store, especially withthe bag to put it in and although there is not a basket there is on e that you can get for it. I have had a quite a few prams for my eldest and when my youngest was newborn, and never thought that I would stray from Mamas and Papas, but Idid and I am glad. the Quinny Zapp is a pleasure to use and very easy to collapse, I have recently become disabled and still find the Zapp easy to use, would recommend, don't know if anyone else's child wakes up when you recline the pram,s o this is a feature that I do not miss, great value for money!!!!

The Quinny Zapp...at first this pushchair appears to be the perfect pushchair. It is lightweight, a dream to push and folds down small enough to fit into the smallest of boot spaces and it certainly looks the part!! However as I discovered and another half dozen of us mums in the playground found out that after several months of use...generally just outside of warranty...the pushchair frame begins to have a few problems. It begins to have problems with the folding mechanisn and after a few more months of battling to either errect or collapse the pushchair it totally gives up!! I was lucky in the fact that I have a seven seater car and was able to put the pushchair back into the car unfolded. It is now in my garage weeks later as we cannot get it to collapse and is now useless. I began having problems with the pushchair at about 12 months. It is such a shame as it was fantastic. I felt that I needed to let other mums know as everyone I know who has one is having the same problems and yet it doesn't seem to be mentioned on any other reviews. I am now looking for another pushchair but will not be buying one of these as it is a lot of money for around 18 months of use and do not want to risk the same problems again.
