Isofix

Britax Duo Plus RSS

If you have Isofix anchorage points in your car (see car handbook) you can’t go wrong when you buy an “Isofix” seat. That, at least, is the theory. In practice we are getting closer to that point but for now it is still necessary to check either the list that comes with the seat or the Britax website.

Duo Plus

One to consider

For people who have Isofix fittings available, although a conventional seat belt routing is still available

Expert review

Britax have universal approval for this seat as long as the vehicle has “top tether” (an additional fixing point at the top of your car seat) anchorage points.

As far as the seat goes, as with most of the range it has the “Adjusta-Fit” system which will ensure that the height of the baby harness and the headrest are adjusted in tandem. There are only 3 recline positions which is not ideal bearing in mind that one of these positions is upright and the other two aren't far from the upright position.

Transferring from car to car is not a chore and the seat can be fitted in the conventional way, with a seat belt. This will help families with a new and old car combination.

This seat now features the Britax patented “Pivot Link” system which reduces the movement of your child in the seat in the event of an accident.

THE LOW-DOWN

Like the other reviewer, I bought this based on research into safety. It's fine. Good points: - easy to fit - seems comfy - the covers are pretty easy to remove for washing Bad points - you'd need a set square and protractor to notice the difference between the 'recline' position and upright, and I suspect that the angle of your car seat affects this too - althought Isofix is supposed to be foolproof, the seat is bulky, and it's not easy to see if the grabber arm has caught hold of the tether point properly. Do give it a good wiggle about when fitting to test it.

Whilst we haven't actually used this seat (because baby a touch too small), we did plenty of research & felt this was best buy. Purchased from Kiddicare (Peterborough) at quite a discount. It fits really securely and certainly looks to be really safe. I imagine that one "issue" might be that it doesn't recline far - but then again I imagine that being too reclined would give the baby a poor position if in a crash. Overall I think this is a great choice if you have Isofix points (particularly if like my car it is authorised for use without the top teher - making it very quick to fit / remove.
