Base

A solid unit (often plastic) which holds and locks in a child's car seat; it is most commonly part of a rear-facing infant carrier. The base is a safety and convenience feature – it reduces fitting mistakes and makes it easier to take the seat in and out of the car.  The base usually remains in the car and is fixed using the vehicle’s 3 point belt or ISOFIX fitting points.
